Scissors

A properly made pair of scissors will need to be ‘bedded’ in. This means the scissors may feel stiff or tight upon the first few uses until the scissors become ‘bedded in’ by use. Please do not adjust the screw as scissors are accurately set at the factory to ensure a perfect cut. Once the screw has been tampered with the guarantee on the scissors is broken and they will need to be repaired at cost to the buyer.

Lace & Ribbons

Lace and ribbons are sold by the meter. You can use the plus and minus buttons to enter the right amount. You will always be sent a continuous length where possible, although sometimes joins do occur due to the manufacturing process, in the event your order is sent as more than one length, additional length for joining will be added free of charge for you to work around.

Nottingham Lace Care

All Nottingham laces are 95% cotton 5% Nylon and are washable up to 40 degrees and pressed at iron level 1-2.
This lace is not pre shrunk. Shrinkage for this lace is around 5-10% if washed on its own. This is slightly less if the lace is attached to something else and for more solid patterns with less holes.

Ribbon Care

Before using your ribbon please iron with a hot iron and with plenty of steam in order to prevent puckering, if lurex or viscose is present in the ribbon, please use a cooler setting.


Unless lurex, other effect or viscose threads are used, the ribbon can be machine washed up to 60 degrees. All other ribbons (with lurex, other effect or viscose threads) are washable up to 30 degrees.


It is advisable not to use a tumble dryer.


The ribbons can be ironed up to level 2-3, provided no lurex, other effect or viscose threads are used. Please iron all other ribbons (with lurex, other effect or viscose threads) at ironing level 1-2.

Do you sell gift vouchers?

Yes ! Both e-vouchers which you receive via email immediately and physical vouchers which are posted out are available. You can find them here.

Do you offer discounts for large volumes?

No, this is a retail only site.

Follow the link on the login page ‘forgotten password?’ and you will be sent an email to reset your password.

What are the postage costs?

Your order will be sent using the utmost care using recyclable packaging where possible.


UK Orders over the value of £75.00 are posted free of charge.


Orders under the value of £50 are sent using Royal Mail Second Class Standard or Air Mail Standard.


All orders over the value of £25 are sent using Royal Mail Second Class Tracked or Royal Mail International Tracked.


Postage upgrades to First Class Tracked and International Tracked are available.


Next day Special Delivery 1pm is available as an upgrade in the UK. For next day delivery the order must be placed by 12pm to receive by noon the next day. If you order on a Friday you will receive your order on Monday by noon. If you order on a Saturday or Sunday you will receive your order on Tuesday before noon.


Your order will be sent to the address you have entered under ‘shipping address.’ , I cannot be held responsible for missing parcels due to address errors. If a parcel is returned to us as undeliverable due to your address error or non-collection I can re send your item for you but there will be an additional delivery charge.

How long will it take to ship my order?

I work hard to ship your order as soon as possible. My current delivery window is 1-2 working days.

I forgot to add something to my order, can I add it now?

I try my best to accommodate forgotten items, but please remember most orders are posted the same or next day. If the packing has already been done, then I’m not able to, Please email info@penelopetextiles.com as soon as possible with your order number and we’ll do our best to sort this out for you.

Import Taxes

I do not collect import taxes. All import taxes are charged to the customer by their respective Customs Officials.

Can I return my order?

It’s frustrating and disappointing but occasionally I’ll make a mistake with an order – I’m very diligent, but only human!


Please email info@penelopetextiles.com to let me know if something has gone wrong with your order, and I’ll make it right as quickly as possible.


Returns for reasons of changed mind or exchange are accepted with the buyer paying the return cost and any new postage costs if exchanging goods. Goods must be returned within 14 days of receipt, in a resalable condition – unopened and unused.
