A magnificent large gift box containing everything you need to make the Sajou La Fontaine’s Fables throw — 24 scenes stitched from the most celebrated collection of fables in the French literary canon, brought together into a throw of extraordinary charm and heirloom quality.

Jean de La Fontaine’s first collection was published in 1668 under the title Selected Fables. Almost 350 years later, the fables have lost none of their wit, warmth or topicality — and each of the 24 illustrations in this design is colour-coded to make stitching straightforward. Despite its generous scale, the project uses nothing but simple cross stitch on 12-count natural linen, with all colours sharply contrasting. For an experienced stitcher, the embroidery represents approximately 300 hours of work. The finished throw measures 119 x 120 cm.

The motif measures 630 x 640 points, giving an embroidered area of 105 x 106.7 cm on 12-count linen. You will need to source your own batting to complete the throw — we recommend adding it to strengthen the finished piece.

The kit is presented in two beautiful boxes: one for the linen, backing fabric and chart, and a separate box for the embroidery thread cards.
