A beautiful boxed Sajou cross stitch kit to embroider a cushion inspired by the carpet of Napoléon’s campaign tent — because even on the battlefield, standards had to be maintained.
The Emperor’s campaign tent was a portable headquarters, divided into a bedroom at the rear (iron bed with a strap base) and a study at the front (folding writing desk and chairs). On the ground lay a leopard-print carpet, echoing the saddle-cloths used by cavalry officers — a motif that manages to be both martial and magnificently decorative at the same time. This cushion kit reproduces that distinctive pattern in cross stitch.
The motif measures 168 x 170 stitches, giving a finished cushion size of approximately 28 x 28.3 cm — a more manageable project than some of its companions in the Museum & Heritage range, and no less beautiful for it.
The kit includes:
Full-colour pattern chart printed on one 60 x 28 cm sheet, with all necessary instructions
50 x 70 cm off-white embroidery linen
100% cotton backing fabric, 40 x 40 cm
9 cards of Retors du Nord embroidery thread: 2005 x 3, 2009, 2023 x 2, 2028, 2221, 2234
A Sajou ‘Créé par moi’ (Made by me) label
