A DMC cross stitch kit to recreate Alfons Mucha’s Zodiac — one of the most striking images of the Art Nouveau movement, produced in 1896 and originally designed as a calendar for the printer Champenois for the year 1897.
The image is quintessential Mucha: a woman in magnificent profile, framed by an elaborate circular halo divided into the signs of the zodiac, her hair ornate, her jewellery intricate, the whole composition a masterpiece of decorative line and warm, glowing colour. Mucha’s distinctive style — part Byzantine, part organic, entirely his own — lends itself beautifully to cross stitch, where the detail and the repeating motifs reward patient stitching. The finished piece, at 30 x 40 cm, is substantial enough to make a real statement framed.
The finished embroidery measures 30 x 40 cm.
The kit includes:
165 m of Mouliné Spécial® threads on an organiser
1 x 14-count white Aida fabric, 45 x 50 cm (100% cotton)
1 x needle
Instructions in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch and Japanese
