Description and Details

A DMC cross stitch kit to recreate Edvard Munch’s The Scream — created in 1893 and now one of the most instantly recognisable images in the history of Western art.

Munch described the moment that inspired it: walking at sunset with friends, he fell behind and was suddenly overwhelmed by an ‘infinite scream passing through nature’, the sky turning blood-red above the fjord. The two figures walking ahead in the background are his companions, oblivious. The result is an image that seems to capture something wordless and universal about anxiety and alienation — which is perhaps why it has never stopped resonating. A pioneer of Expressionism and a key figure in the Symbolist movement, Munch made the inner world visible in a way that still feels radical. Stitched in Mouliné Spécial threads, those swirling, anguished colours come to life in a new and surprisingly absorbing way.

The finished embroidery measures approximately 28.6 x 36 cm.

The kit includes:

  • 141 m of Mouliné Spécial® threads on an organiser
  • 1 x 14-count Aida fabric, 40 x 48 cm (100% cotton)
  • 1 x embroidery needle
  • Instructions in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch and Japanese

You will find the companion Scream bookmark kit and the full range of DMC art cross stitch kits in my shop.
