Description and Details

This black English Nottingham lace trim is a fine decorative lace with a medium depth and a lavish frothy triple swags point lace design that adds movement and character to your projects. Nottingham lace is woven on specialised looms that allow complex, flowing patterns and a soft yet structured handle, giving this trim a refined yet tactile finish.

At 40 mm (4 cm or 1.6 inches) deep, it is versatile for use on garments, accessories and soft furnishings. The triple swags design has a rhythmic visual flow that works beautifully on necklines, cuffs, waistbands, hems, lingerie edges and period-style clothing as well as cushions, curtains and heirloom sewing where lace detail is part of the aesthetic.

This lace trim is sold by the metre in a continuous piece, ideal for long runs without joins. It is made by the last remaining Nottingham lace manufacturers in the UK, a family firm with a long heritage supplying lace to haute couture houses and royalty. That provenance means this lace carries a quality and handle that is difficult to find in generic lace trims.

Materials Details:

  • 95%Cotton and 5% Nylon blend (exact composition depends on lace batch). The cotton content gives softness and natural feel while the nylon adds strength and resilience.
  • Traditional Nottingham lace weave

Before use:
Iron with a hot iron and plenty of steam to flatten and prevent puckering. For lace trims with nylon or synthetic threads, use a cooler setting.

Washing Tips:
Unless there are additional effect fibres, lace trims like this can be gently hand washed or machine washed on a delicate cycle at cool to warm temperatures (up to 30°C) to preserve shape and fibres.

Drying Tips:
Avoid using a tumble dryer. Lay flat to dry to maintain shape and prevent distortion.

Ironing Tips:
Iron on a low to medium setting as needed. Use a pressing cloth to protect the lace surface.
