A large Bayeux Tapestry cross-stitch embroidery kit by Sajou, part of the museum heritage series. Includes detailed printed pattern chart, premium threads and linen base. Ideal for experienced stitchers and history enthusiasts.
A magnificent large-scale Sajou cross stitch kit inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry — the extraordinary eleventh-century embroidered narrative depicting the events surrounding the Norman Conquest of England in 1066. One of the most remarkable surviving works of medieval art, and endlessly compelling as a stitching subject.
This large-format kit brings together a selection of key scenes from the tapestry, making it a beautiful summary of the story in a single substantial piece. Well suited to experienced stitchers who want an immersive heritage project to frame or display as textile art.
The kit includes everything needed to begin stitching: a printed pattern chart, wool embroidery threads selected to reflect the original colour palette, and a linen fabric base. Full materials details are included in the kit packaging.
A few notes before you start:
Iron the linen gently on a low heat before beginning to remove any creases
Use an embroidery hoop or frame to maintain even tension throughout
Organise and label threads by shade before you start — it makes a real difference on a large project
When complete, hand wash gently in cool water if needed and press from the reverse with a light cloth over the stitches
The individual Bayeux Tapestry scene kits and pot kits are also available separately in my shop, along with other embroidery designs inspired by the historical textile collections of France’s great châteaux and museums.
