Description and Details

A beautiful Sajou cross stitch cushion kit inspired by the wall coverings of the bedroom of King François I at the Château de Chenonceau.

François I was a frequent and welcome guest of Thomas Bohier and his wife Katherine Bricçonnet, the couple who initiated the construction of Chenonceau on the foundations of an old mill spanning the River Cher. The embroidered side of the cushion reproduces the design of the room’s distinctive wall coverings; the reverse is a patterned toile in warm brown tones — a lovely detail that makes this a beautifully finished piece from both sides. (The exact fabric may vary slightly depending on stock, but the result is always lovely.)

The finished cushion measures approximately 31 x 22 cm.

The kit includes:

  • Full-colour pattern chart printed on an A3 sheet
  • 35 x 26 cm embroidery linen
  • 7 cards of Retors du Nord embroidery thread: 2022, 2023, 2028, 2032, 2196, 2266 and 2340
  • 35 x 26 cm 100% cotton ‘indienne’ toile backing fabric

You will find the companion large Chenonceau boxed kit, the History of Chenonceau chart and other Museum & Heritage designs in my shop.
