Few couples have left a more indelible mark on the decorative arts than Napoleon and Joséphine. This magnificent boxed Sajou Museum & Heritage cross stitch kit celebrates their world in all its Empire splendour — the silks, the bee motifs, the opulent interiors of their various residences, the extraordinary wardrobe of the Empress, and the ceremonial dress of the Imperial Household.

It is a world of deliberate grandeur, and Sajou have captured it beautifully. The reverse of the chart carries the history behind each motif alongside full embroidery instructions — so you will come away knowing rather more about the Empire style than you did when you started. A card of silver metallic thread is included, because of course it is.

The motif measures 345 x 346 stitches, giving a finished size of approximately 57.5 x 57.8 cm. The embroidery represents approximately 295 hours of stitching — a proper commitment, and absolutely worth it. The chart is printed in matt finish on a large 68 x 80 cm sheet so that notes and references can be written directly onto it.
