A magnificent boxed Sajou Museum & Heritage kit for a large embroidery celebrating the history of the Palace of Versailles and the kings and queens who lived there.
The embroidery is rich with visual detail drawn from the Palace itself — silhouette portraits of successive monarchs sit alongside motifs taken from the extraordinary textile collection at Versailles: the wall hangings of the Hall of Plenty and the Mercury Room, the fabrics of the Queen’s Bedchamber, and the fabric pillars of the King’s Bedchamber. The reverse of the chart carries detailed stitching instructions and the histories behind each motif. There is also a card of old gold metallic thread — a fitting touch for Versailles.
The embroidery represents approximately 300 hours of stitching.
The motif measures 345 x 344 stitches, giving a finished size of approximately 57.3 x 57.5 cm on 12-count linen. The chart is printed in matt finish on a large 68 x 80 cm sheet so that notes and references can be written directly onto it.
