Description and Details

This boxed set brings together eight shades of Sajou Fil au Chinois gloving thread, a specialist thread with a long heritage in fine hand sewing. Traditionally used for sewing gloves, it remains a favourite for precision work because it is 2 ply, strong, smooth and lightly waxed, helping the thread glide through fabric and hold stitches neatly without snagging.

The light waxing is a key quality feature. As with all Fil au Chinois threads, the gloving thread is passed through a bath of starch and beeswax before twisting. Because the wax does not sit on the surface, the thread does not feel sticky. Instead, it gains a subtle sheen, stays resistant to fraying, and is less likely to fluff or spoil during use. This makes it ideal for visible, high-finish handwork and for sewing that needs reliability under tension.

In practical use, this thread is especially well suited to appliqué, tambour beading, patchwork, and general hand sewing where you want a crisp stitch line and a durable result. It is also an excellent choice for couture style embellishment work, including attaching beads and sequins in tambour techniques, thanks to its strength and controlled handling.

Set colours included: 120 grey, 290 café au lait, 302 linen, 312 ecru, 525 red, 535 garnet, 594 pink, 895 holly. The colour of the presentation box may vary according to stock.
