Description and Details

A set of 10 vintage Irish linen damask napkins with a simple traditional style of damask with foliate borders to the edges and floral cartouches to the corners. The centre of the napkins has a square border of scrolls edged with tiny, pretty flowers.
The napkins are all in excellent condition, one of the napkins has some rust marks to a corner and an edge as seen in the photos.
These napkins came from the Raglan estate, each napkin bears a laundry tape with the name Julia Raglan.
Julia Raglan was the wife of George Somerset, 3rd Baron Raglan. Julie Raglan wrote an article in 1939 The “Green Man” in Church Architecture, thus Julie Raglan is the woman that gave a name to this particular type of historical imagery, a term that has survived to this day.

The napkins measure 21 x 21.5 inches/ 53.5 x 54.5 cm.

Materials: Linen.
