A pretty box containing Assortment No. 2 of the Fil au Chinois lace making thread cocoons.
This assortment contains a collection of 12 pastel tones: - sky blue (6750), pale yellow (6323), white (6100), almond (6803), beige (6212), jade green (6802), mauve (6603), light brown (6253), grey (6110), blue (6774), salmon (6598) and pink (6586).
These threads are made of 3 strands of twisted mercerised cotton (the equivalent of DMC N° 80), and asides lace making, they make an excellent sewing thread and are great for embroidery as well,- especially the variegated threads.
The Calais Cocoons come in handy little cocoons of approximately 110 meters. The thread is pulled from the centre, which helps prevent knotting and any wastage.
I stock the all six of the Calais cocoons assortments and also boxes of 12 black, white, cream. I also stock the large gift box containing the full set of 72 cocoons.
I have bought these threads before and I love them. Very strong and great colours. I believe they’re supposed to be for lace making, although I’m not certain, but I stitch with them, when I’m making something where I want to do a lot of running stitches.
