Description and Details

A beautiful Sajou kit containing all you need for making up a useful pot in a mignonnette design.

The repetitive motif of this embroidery was inspired by the fabrics printed in days gone by at the Oberkampf Manufactory in Jouy. These small repetitive patterns intended for clothing were called Mignonnettes (cute fabrics).
This motif comes from the cross stitch large pattern chart evoking the history of the making of Oberkampf’s Toiles de Jouy.
It is embroidered in cross-stitch over two threads of fabric using two strands of Retors du Nord. Easy and amusing, it is perfect for novices.

The kit includes;
A Sajou pattern chart for embroidering the Mignonnette design
A 14 cm square piece of Sajou sand linen 32 threads per inch/ 12 count
The Retour du Nord Embroidery threads for working the embroidery
A round box with a metal base and lid with a cardboard disc for mounting the embroidery

The finished embroidered pot measures 4.2 cm high and 7.3 cm diameter.

Some of you will already be collectors of Sajou and be more than aware of this extraordinary French brand. Sajou produce haberdashery items made in France to the highest standards (in some cases even produced on the original old machinery). Perfect for gifts and collectors, and for those of you unable to resist a quality that is seldom found in today's mass produced haberdashery products.

Sajou was created in 1828 by Jaques- Simon Sajou, selling haberdashery for embroidery, tapestry, lace, crochet and weaving. His pattern albums are sought after to this day by collectors worldwide. In 2005 the Sajou brand was purchased and revived by avid collector; Frederique Crestin- Billet. Many of the old designs have been faithfully reproduced and there are some new designs that have been added in the Sajou style.
