A beautiful Sajou kit containing all you need for making up a useful pot in a floral design.
The multicolor flower motif of this embroidery was inspired by a fabric, printed in days gone by at the Oberkampf Manufactory in Jouy.
It is embroidered in cross-stitch over two threads of fabric using two strands of Retors du Nord. Easy and amusing, it is perfect for novices.
The kit includes;
A Sajou pattern chart for embroidering the Indienne design
A 14 cm square piece of Sajou mustard linen 32 threads per inch/ 12 count
The Retour du Nord Embroidery threads for working the embroidery
A round box with a metal base and lid with a cardboard disc for mounting the embroidery and a band of matching patterned paper to cover the side of the box.
The finished embroidered pot measures 4.2 cm high and 7.3 cm diameter.
Some of you will already be collectors of Sajou and be more than aware of this extraordinary French brand. Sajou produce haberdashery items made in France to the highest standards (in some cases even produced on the original old machinery). Perfect for gifts and collectors, and for those of you unable to resist a quality that is seldom found in today's mass produced haberdashery products.
Sajou was created in 1828 by Jaques- Simon Sajou, selling haberdashery for embroidery, tapestry, lace, crochet and weaving. His pattern albums are sought after to this day by collectors worldwide. In 2005 the Sajou brand was purchased and revived by avid collector; Frederique Crestin- Billet. Many of the old designs have been faithfully reproduced and there are some new designs that have been added in the Sajou style.
I was so pleased to find such lovely quality Nottingham Lace. It looks beautifully delicate and I am looking forward to using it in a blouse pattern very soon.
I am delighted to have discovered this supply of glorious , naturally dyed wool thread. The colour are perfect for my palette and various darning, embroidery projects and far exceed any yarns I have used previously. The subtle marked effect is perfect.
My order was delivered swiftly and Penny was extremely helpful in resending the correct shade when I used the wrong code.
The whole website is a treasure trove
Lovely lace which can be used to make wonderful rococco/Cinderella style petticoats for dolls (even by someone like me with very basic sewing skills). Also gathers well if you want to use the thread technique
