Description and Details

A beautiful Sajou Museum and Heritage Collection cross stitch kit showing Harolds embarkment depicted in the Bayeux Tapestry.

The scene shows the ill fated crossing of Harold to Normandy in 1063/4, which resulted in his forced landing and ensuing imprisonment by Count Guy of Ponthieu following a storm at sea.

The kit contains;
The chart for working the embroidery
13 cards of Laine St Pierre embroidery wool
32 count linen embroidery fabric in sand colour required to complete the embroidery.

The size of the motif is 370 x 95 points, if sewn onto 32 count embroidery linen the size would be 62 x 16 cm.

The pattern chart is is printed in matt and can be written on should you need to mark any references.

There are other embroidery charts and kits inspired by the Bayeux Tapestry, which can be found in my shop along with other embroidery charts and kits inspired by the designs and history of Toile du Jouy.

Sajou produce haberdashery items made in France to the highest standards (in some cases even produced on the original old machinery). Perfect for gifts and collectors, and for those of you unable to resist a quality that is seldom found in today's mass produced haberdashery products.

Sajou was created in 1828 by Jaques- Simon Sajou, selling haberdashery for embroidery, tapestry, lace, crochet and weaving. His pattern albums are sought after to this day by collectors worldwide. In 2005 the Sajou brand was purchased and revived by avid collector; Frederique Crestin- Billet. Many of the old designs have been faithfully reproduced and there are some new designs that have been added in the Sajou style.

Materials: 32 Count Embroidery Linen, Cross Stitch Chart, Laine St Pierre Embroidery Wool.

A project in waiting but everything is nicely packed and presented along with a freebie from this company. I've already completed two kits which were easy, although awaiting completion, but another yet to stitch. Great company and speedy service, thank you.
