Sajou Museum & Heritage Gift Box Cross Stitch Kit- Tinctorial Plants

Description and Details

A beautiful large Sajou gift box cross stitch kit depicting historical tinctorial plants — the flowers, roots and leaves that were used as natural dyes before the advent of synthetic colour.

The back of the chart carries a brief history of each plant, and the small cuts of ribbon included with the kit are intended as samples of the actual colours that each plant yields as a dye — a lovely touch that brings the botanical and textile history together in a very tangible way. The chart is also available separately without the kit.

The motif measures 345 x 345 points and represents approximately 135 hours of stitching. The chart measures 68 x 80 cm and is printed in matt finish so that notes and references can be written directly onto it. The reverse carries botanical details about each plant along with full embroidery instructions.
