Description and Details
A beautiful, large Sajou cross stitch chart showing the history that surrounds Chateau de Chenonceau.
The chart is positively teeming with interesting designs, there are portraits of some of the famous female inhabitants of the chateau, repeat motifs taken from the textiles that adorn some of the rooms, there are symbols and flags relating the history of the chateau, along with a silhouette of the architecture.
The reverse side of the chart has instructions for stitching the chart along with lots of historical information regarding the chateau.
The size of the finished design is 355 x 344 points, which when sewn on 12 count embroidery linen measures 57.5 x 57 cm.
This design is one of several historical charts available for cross stitch that are taken from the textiles of The Chateau de Chenonceau in France.
The charts in these designs can be found in my shop along with other embroidery charts and kits inspired by the designs and histories of Chateua de Chenonceau, Toile du Jouy and of the Bayueux Tapestry.
Some of you will already be collectors of Sajou and be more than aware of this extraordinary French brand. Sajou produce haberdashery items made in France to the highest standards (in some cases even produced on the original old machinery). Perfect for gifts and collectors, and for those of you unable to resist a quality that is seldom found in today's mass produced haberdashery products.
Sajou was created in 1828 by Jaques- Simon Sajou, selling haberdashery for embroidery, tapestry, lace, crochet and weaving. His pattern albums are sought after to this day by collectors worldwide. In 2005 the Sajou brand was purchased and revived by avid collector; Frederique Crestin- Billet. Many of the old designs have been faithfully reproduced and there are some new designs that have been added in the Sajou style.
