Description and Details
Discover authentic Nottingham lacemaking in a very pretty, delicate scalloped lace with a looped heading. This white English Nottingham lace measures 3.7cm (1.45 inches) deep and is woven to couture quality from 95% cotton and 5% nylon. The soft scalloped edge and fine looped heading give an elegant finished border that is ideal for bridal gowns, veils, christening wear and couture trims. It is sold by the metre in a continuous piece, supplying ample length for lengthy hems or multiple garments without joins.
Key features and benefits: • Width: 3.7cm / 1.45 inches, a versatile size for hems, bodice trims and veil edging. • Composition: 95% cotton, 5% nylon for a soft hand with structural stability. • Continuous piece: sold by the metre with no joins, suitable for long hems and multiple garments. • Heritage provenance: UK-made by the last remaining Nottingham lace mill, a nine-generation maker with couture clients and royal bridal provenance.
Sewing and care guidance: Sew with a fine universal or sharps needle and use small pins or fabric clips to avoid distortion. For machine attachment, a fine zigzag or narrow straight stitch works well for insertion seams and scalloped edges. Hand wash or gentle machine wash in cool water, reshape and dry flat. Iron warm on the reverse and avoid bleach or strong detergents to preserve the natural fibre feel.
Colours and uses: Available in White. Perfect for bridal trims, veil finishing, christening garments, period costume and couture detailing where a delicate scalloped edge is required.
Materials and sizing: 95% cotton, 5% nylon. Width: 3.7cm / 1.45 inches. Sold by the metre in a continuous piece.
Always delighted with the selection of laces, and the fineness of them as the scale is appropriate for the doll dresses I make. Neatly packed and presented, so there's always a happy landing! Many thanks.
I have bought these threads before and I love them. Very strong and great colours. I believe they’re supposed to be for lace making, although I’m not certain, but I stitch with them, when I’m making something where I want to do a lot of running stitches.
