A beautiful Sajou Museum and Heritage Collection cross stitch kit showing Harolds embarkment depicted in the Bayeux Tapestry.
This cross stitch kit shows the scene of The Pledge of Bayeux, episode which is not on the large pattern chart.
Following the attacks on Rennes and Dinan, William and two knights headed for Bayeux, the episcopal city of his half-brother, Odo.
The scene is set at Bayeux, with Duke William represented on his throne holding his sword pointing upwards. Facing him, Harold takes an oath on two reliquaries placed on a stand decorated with draperies. By this pledge, Harold swears loyalty to William and promises him the throne of England upon Edward’s death. We know that this will not happen and Harold will nevertheless be crowned King of England.
Size of motif: 268 points 67 points. If sewn on 12 count embroidery linen: 45cm x 11,5cm.

A full-colour pattern chart printed on a large 60cm x 29cm sheet of paper;
70 x 25cm piece of sand coloured linen embroidery fabric;
10 Laine Saint-Pierre cards in following colours: 422 x 3 - 450 x 2 - 648 x 2,, 814 x 1 - 845 x 1 - 930 x 1;
A Sajou “Créé par moi” label (Made by me). Presented in a lovely Sajou cardboard re-usable box.
The pattern chart is is printed in matt and can be written on should you need to mark any references.

Sajou was created in 1828 by Jaques- Simon Sajou, selling haberdashery for embroidery, tapestry, lace, crochet and weaving. His pattern albums are sought after to this day by collectors worldwide. In 2005 the Sajou brand was purchased and revived by avid collector; Frederique Crestin- Billet. Many of the old designs have been faithfully reproduced and there are some new designs that have been added in the Sajou style.
