Description and Details

A Sajou Museum & Heritage cross stitch chart inspired by the panels of the Queen's Bedchamber at the Palace of Versailles.

The fabric is known as the Queen's Brocade, woven specifically for Marie-Antoinette in heavy 'gros de tours' taffeta and decorated with flowers, ribbons and peacock feathers. It served as 'summer furniture' — brought out only from spring to autumn. The original was lost after the Revolution; in the 20th century it was faithfully re-woven by Maison Lamy & Gautier from a design attributed to Jean-François Bony, based on the 1786–1787 Lyon original.

The motif is 348 stitches wide by 259 stitches high. Worked on 12 count linen, the finished cushion measures approximately 58 x 44.2cm.

The full-colour chart is printed on two 60 x 28cm sheets and comes in a Sajou decorative sleeve.

Part of Sajou's Museum & Heritage Versailles series, which also includes the large Versailles chart, the Queen's Petit Trianon Bedchamber Cushion, the Marie-Antoinette chart, and the Marie-Antoinette & Mme Élisabeth Tapestry Cushion.

Materials: Cross stitch chart in decorative sleeve. Made in France.
